Alesis Nitro Mesh Electronic Drum Kit Review

Alesis has been making electronic drum kits for many years, having conquered the low-end market with their DM5 kit, and more recently the higher end kits too. Their new Nitro electronic drum set looks like good value for money, so we got on the drum throne to try it out.

Hit Me

The Alesis Nitro Mesh kit is a 5-piece kit with mesh heads, 3 cymbals, and the Nitro sound module, which has 40 kits with 385 sounds. Impressively it has 60 play-along tracks for practicing, and has an aux input for mobile devices.

The stands, pedals and cables are all included, so you’re ready to start once you take delivery. Even the drumsticks are included!

The Sound

The Alesis Nitro kit has a good sounding module. For the money, it’s better than one might expect. Sure, it’s not the best on the market, some other kits which cost considerably more have sounds that are better and more dynamic, but Alesis have done a splendid job with their module. The pads feel good and are tunable so you can adjust the sensitivity, and the cymbals are responsive. They’re also fairly quiet too, which will keep your neighbours happy.

Tell Me More

The snare is 8” and dual-trigger and has a rim zone, and all the accessories, apart from a drum throne, are included.

We’re impressed with that he played and heard. This kit is great for an absolute beginner, or an advanced player just looking to practice. The build quality is something to watch especially for heavy hitters, the hi-hat did seem a bit flimsy, but for beginners this is nothing to worry about. For the money, it’s a great choice. There are better kits available but they cost considerably more.
